England expected to go one better
England are the 7/2 joint favourites to win the European Championship for the first time in Germany next year and end their 58-year wait for a major international trophy.
Gareth Southgate’s side, who reached the Euro 2020 final at Wembley only to lose to Italy, have been drawn alongside Slovenia, Denmark and Serbia in Group C.
Last year’s beaten World Cup finalists France are also 7/2 to lift the trophy and have been drawn in Group D along with Netherlands, Austria and one of the play-off winners. Ronald Koeman’s Dutch side are 16/1 to win the Euros for the first time since 1988, when he was part of the winning side.
Hosts Germany follow England and France in the betting at 6/1 despite their poor recent form in friendlies, which resulted in Julian Nagelsmann taking over from Hansi Flick in September. Scotland are in Group A with Germany, Hungary and Switzerland and are 80/1 to win the tournament.
Group B looks like the toughest section with Spain, World Cup semi-finalists Croatia, holders Italy and Albania. Spain are 7/1 to lift the trophy while Italy are 16/1 to retain it. Should Italy achieve the feat, it would put them level on three victories with Spain and Germany.
Euro 2016 winners Portugal and Belgium complete the rest of the front-runners for Euro 2024 at 8/1 and 14/1 respectively.
